Kathy here! I am behind responding to Dr. Laibow emails because my computer had to be fixed three times in the last month. Ah! technology! First, what is our Action eAlert List and, second, what is an Action Item?

Second, the Action Items are part of our Internet-based system that allows you to easily send emails to your Congress-critters, State legislators and other decision makers... so we can all "educate" them together... this is what we have been calling "Push Back!" Current Action Items are below, in this emailing.
We are still getting some mail from a few of you, who are complaining that we are "writing articles promising information" and then "we try to sell you something instead". Go back and look again! Those are NOT articles by us- those are advertisements. Marketing companies purchase advertising space from us (but never see your personal information!), and that helps us to pay our Bills. I wrote the following to one person who complained: | "WE" are not asking you to buy anything. The advertiser who purchased advertising space from us is doing that. We do not own the rights to the books, etc., that are advertised and do not receive any profits from any sales of these items. We are being paid a set fee to send advertisements to our List, like the ads in magazines, radio and tv. We did not write the advertisements - the company that placed the advertisements did that. We would have to purchase the books and/or product and put its contents in an eblast to "give you" the information contained therein---- and that would be stealing. We would have to steal the author's research and hard work to "give you" what is not our's to give. The authors put a great deal of time and research into these books/products. And they also have living expenses that must be paid for from that work. So if we steal their efforts and give them to you, they will not be able to pay their own expenses | Now some say that info that might help sick people should be given - not sold - because they "need" it. But people also need food and clothes and shoes and they pay for those. They also pay for books. I have never met a person who took a book to the cashier and said, "I want this info for free- do not charge me for the book!" Further, if those who write books about health cannot be paid for their efforts (because sick people must get things for free), then few writers will write about health because writers have living expenses, as we all do. That means that those very sick people will have to do their own research, which, I suspect, will cost much more than any book.
You don't like the ads?? Personally, I ignore ANY ad that requires me to listen to something for more than one minute. I cut out at that point! Some of you have complained that we criticized unions in a recent eblast. WE DID NOT! That comment was part of an advertisement- which an advertiser wrote. Tell THEM off! If you believe that some of the ads are insulting to your intelligence - our Listees are an intelligent group of people who clearly understand what is going on in this world! Advertisers would do better if they considered that! Well, we are trying to separate these advertisement eblasts from our regular information eblasts so that those who do not like them can simply take three seconds and trash them. Our regular weekly Wednesday and Saturday emailings always have "Dr Rima Reports" in the subject line.
Those of you who are so horrified by advertising that you sanctimoniously inform us that you can "no longer work with us" -- get real! Put things into perspective. There are HORRIBLE things happening on this planet! There are far worse things that could happen to you than receiving an unwanted advertisement. And please understand that we are grateful that someone wants to advertise with us, because we have about $12,000 per month in expenses and our Listees do not donate enough to cover our debts. Yes, we do not charge for the hundreds of thousands of emails our Listees click to Washington each month, but we have to pay thousands for that service alone, to the company that sees to it that the emails go where they are supposed to and maintains and updates our List. We also have to pay for many websites, a webmaster, trips to Washington over Bills... Trips to Codex meetings that Dr. Rima tapes, participation in lawsuits- the list grows and grows- the money doesn't. Since we are the largest health freedom organization in the country and we generate more mail to Washington than all the others combined, it would be horrible if we had to close down for lack of funds. So please be happy that the advertising is helping to keep this work alive and going strong! We have major battles ahead! Spread the info and help this movement to grow for your own future and the future of those you love. We will continue to work hard and hope that enough funding comes through to bring us to victory! drinking on blood pressure and cardiovascular disease in individuals with a history of high blood pressure [1]. The review looked at three lines of
evidence. Here’s a summary of each type of evidence and the findings of the
review.
1. Studies where individuals consumed the equivalent of 200-300 mg of caffeine
(1.5 – 2 cups of filter coffee) in the short term
Putting several studies together revealed that this does increase blood pressure for up to 3 hours. Rise in blood pressure was about 8 and 6 mmHg in the systolic (higher) and diastolic (lower) blood pressure values, respectively.
2. Studies where individuals consumed coffee over a 2-week period
These studies showed that, overall, coffee did not increase blood pressure. Some of the explanation here is that individuals can become ‘habituated’ to caffeine, with its effects on the body lessening in time.
3. Studies looking at the link between coffee consumption and cardiovascular disease over time
These studies showed that, overall, higher intakes of coffee were not associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. 1.
