Temperatures were rising in the spent fuel rod pool at 0.26C per hour (0.5F).  Once the water heats up, the rate of evaporation will increase.  As that happens, the water will get hotter faster and evaporate faster.  The result?  A nuclear fire releasing unimaginable amounts of radioactivity into the atmosphere? Hydrogen explosions accomplishing the same thing? Both?
