FDA Acts to Attack Health Freedom - Again, and Worse! PYRIDOXAMINE: THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR DSHEA?   Before discussing the Vitamin B-6 ban, let's briefly review FDA's policies and initiatives that threaten health freedom and why DSHEA (the Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act - 1994) is so important to your health freedom and why it is so much of a threat to the FDA. DSHEA says that supplements and herbs are to be considered as food.  Because they are food, there can be no limitation on dose, leaving the door open for the high potency supplements we enjoy so uniquely in the United States.  Protected supplments, etc., are defined as those items available for sale and use in dietary supplements before June, 1994 (when DSHEA went into effect).  The list of grandfathered substances was complied by the NNFA (now NPA) and accepted by the FDA.  It defines the DSHEA protected substances and has been a core of health freedom as it pertains to supplements in the US since the law was passed. The FDA is now unilaterally denying the fact that the list protects substances and acting to continue and accelerate the process of destroying access to high potency supplements upon which so much of our Natural Health options rest.  Here's the process the FDA is following: First, in 2007, Congress rewards FDA for its failures by increasing its power. This was done through Sen. Kennedy's FDA "enabling act" although our vigorous efforts (thank you!) did get the "DSHEA product savings clause" 1011 added to the bill. This important clause specifically exempts all DSHEA products from any provision in the bill. Second, in 2008, FDA askes for public comments on how the "DSHEA product savings clause" applies to section 301(11) of the act which gives FDA authority to ban foods that are being studied for use as "treatment of disease." The simple legal answer, of course, is that the section in question has no relationship whatsoever to DSHEA products since the entire law has no impact on DSHEA products. We of course submitted our comments objecting to this evisceration of DSHEA and tens of thousands of Natural Solutions Foundation's Mighty Mouse Warriors did likewise... Fourth, comments are sought on the idea that FDA can ban any nutritional product it likes from interstate commerce despite legislative protection through the specific legislative prohibition preventing the FDA from doing so for products covered under DSHEA... Fifth, , in Europe, the EFSD meets to discuss maximum permitted levels (MPLs) of nutrients ... Sixth, based on another one of those "citizens petitions" from favored "consumer" groups, EPA expresses its intention to ban topical nano silver despite the fact that it has already been approved as an efffective, inexpenisve and higly effective surface cleaner... Seventh, FDA seeks to eliminate all nutrients and objects from health use which have had any study about them published of any sort whatsoever - this is the ultimate import of the dangerous section 301(11) of the act. Eigth, FDA/CODEX seeks to eliminate all nutrients which have not had met an artificial "Significant Scientific Agreement" standard that violates DSHEA's commercially reasonable standard of "competent and reliable scientific evidence." FDA's "response" as noted above, to the position that DSHEA protects dietary supplements from the unfair tactic of some pharmaceutical company conducting a "study" of the ingredient for medical use and then using that to ban the competing natural substance, was to throw down the gauntlet at the feet of the industry and ban a legal, grandfathered nutritional supplement ingredient... Congress has, at least three times before, divested FDA of authority it was misusing or failing to exercise well enough, when DEA, EPA and CPA were created. How much more FDA mis-regulation can consumers and the industry survive? How much more FDA-mis-regulation will consumers tolerate? Are we ready to act?  So there we have it: either the FDA is divested of food authority or we will, bit by bit, then larger bit by larger bit, lose our access to high potency, advanced nutrition. Read that as "infertility", "sterility", "cancers", "auto-immune diseases", "Joint and connective tissue diseases", "neurological diseases", "fetal death", "failure to thrive", "infant mortality", etc. Babies in utero are particularly susceptible to the impact of these "novel proteins", but no one is immune. We get letters every day asking if again if the UN agency, Codex Alimentarius (the world food code), ever was really a threat to dietary supplements, it is a threat now and is there as deadline after which Codex would prevent us from buying supplements? Short answer, "YES! Despite what disinformation agents and the uninformed have to say about the topic.  Longer answer, read what Ralph Fucetola, our Council and Trustee, has to say: ...if you look up the Vitamin and Mineral Guideline, adopted by Codex in 2005, it begins, "Most people who have access to a balanced diet can usually obtain all the nutrients they require from their normal diet. Because foods contain many substances that promote health, people should therefore be encouraged to select a balanced diet from food before considering any vitamin and mineral supplement" The VMG is at: www.codexalimentarius.net/download/standards/10206/cxg_055e.pdf When you read the VMG carefully, the prejudices against supplements stated in the very first sentence above are reinforced by a general attitude that treats food supplements as though they were industrial toxins (while elsewhere Codex allows all sorts of real industrial toxins in the food supply). Codex guidelines are not "law" but they are "presumptive evidence" in WTO disputes. So it is the World Trade Organization that enforces Codex. For Codex to have domestic impact, local law has to be amended to meet the Codex guidelines. In the US, DSHEA still protects us from the full impact of Codex, though the new administration seems to be moving in the direction of "HARMonizing" our laws with Codex, which as long been FDA policy. In Europe, the Codex compliant European Food Supplements Directive (EFSD) will end its derogations, or exceptions, on December 31, 2009.  At that time, it is very doubtful that a single over the counter, high potency supplement will remain legally available in Europe.  While not Codex per se, this is what Codex compliance with the VMG will bring. The US FDA stated in the Federal Register on October 11, 1994 that it would comply with International food standards [Codex].    The Threat Marches On At the end of 2006 the threat was the FDA's anti-CAM draft guidance document that Dr. Ron Paul called "an abuse of FDA power..." We beat this back (it has still not been finalized by FDA) with hundreds of thousands of comments posted on the FDA site before it crashed. In 2007 the threat was Sen. Kennedy's FDA enabling act, to which was added a "savings clause" protecting DSHEA (dietary supplement) products; we worked to keep that savings language in the final act, when it looked like it might be lost in the congressional conference committee. Last year, 2008, FDA asked for "comments" on whether that savings clause really restricted their enhanced authority to ban interstate shipments of nutrients, proving the wisdom of persevering -- had we not fought hard to keep the language in the Act, FDA would be moving even faster against nutrition. During the same year other FDA initiatives threatened further "HARMonization" while the EPA moved toward banning Nano Silver products. We've opposed all these moves and will continue to do so. It isn't just Codex that is a threat to free access to nutrients and natural remedies. Divest the FDA in '09!   But so are the FDA, the EPA, etc. This year, 2009, needs to be the year when the FDA was divested of its food authority. More about that later... Now it's time to do the same on Change.gov. See the Action Item in Dr. Rima Recommends, below. But, first... Health Freedom eAlert Action: Silver and Health Freedom Your Comments Needed by January 20th. "Consumer Organizations" Petition EPA to Ban Nano Silver - Natural Solutions Foundation Supports Nano Silver, Health Freedom Tell EPA Not to Ban Nano Silver of Any Type http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/t/1128/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=26405 The Natural Solutions Foundation has received emails asking us why Nano Silver should not be banned since some so-called "Consumer Groups" have banded together to seek its classification and banning as a "pesticide" by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  I understand the concern but I certainly do not share it.  Instead, I have deep concern about the use of "consumer groups" to do the work of Big Pharma and the folks who are spending huge amounts of money to prepare us - and their plans - for the "inevitable" pandemic with what we believe may well be weaponized pandemic "tools".  Nano silver, in particular, kills even the weaponized versions of Avian Flu and HIV and, according to the President of ABL, has been approved by the EPA itself for that purpose! See: http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/index.php?p=1868 Taking topical (surface cleaner) Nano Silver out of our hands means only expensive, toxic chemicals could be used for that purpose.  Even worse, it opens the door wide, very wide, for the banning of Nano Silver for all other purposes. Do you think Nano Silver Dietary Supplements would be allowed for very long if Nano Silver (and the equipment to make it!) were declared a "pesticide"? Without Nano Silver, what do we have on hand that can protect us from over 630 pathogens, including weaponized ones?  If  EPA is allowed to "regulate" Nano Silver, what do we have to protect us from an increasing level of governmental health tyranny?  Please read my letter, below, written to someone asking how I could possibly oppose banning Nano silver and click here (http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/t/1128/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=26405) to tell the EPA that this dangerous and unjustified expansion of government control is NOT acceptable to you.  Numbers count here.  Every single person you know who loves liberty or cares about their health (or a both) should be deeply concerned and motivated to take action.  Comments end on January 20, 2009.  We are the ONLY health freedom organization acting to protect Nano Silver as far as I know.  Act now (http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/t/1128/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=26405).   My letter to the supporter asking why we are not supporting the ban on Nano Silver: "It is downright disingenuous to seek to halt the use of nano silver as a "pesticide" and the machinery that makes it, as well, as a pesticide when there is no suggestion from any credible source that there is any danger at all from nano silver used as a topical, or internally taken, product.  Wildly dangerous organophosphate and other known carcinogen pesticides and the 12 Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) banned by the Stockholm Convention (SC) of 2001 are still permitted for unregulated use in the US and manufactured for use abroad on our food supply.   In fact, although the US signed the SC, it has yet to enact it into law, allowing global and local pollution and contamination, increasing cancer rates, etc. Glyphosate (Roundup(c)), the second most dangerous non radioactive chemical known, which is a documented cause of birth defects, infertility, sterility, cancer, etc., etc., is widely used in foods and encouraged for more use by the proliferation of TOTALLY UNTESTED GMO "foods" which MAY NOT be either examined for their safety or labeled under US regulation and law. Glyphosate, an herbicide, is permitted in ever increasing food residue and water concentrations. These GMO "foods" containing glyphosate residues and similar toxic compounds contaminate more than 90% of the US food supply including the 10% permitted in organic foods, but raise no such concern. Animals are reared in feedlots in such horrific conditions that they must be fed antibiotics to keep them alive, given contaminated feed known to cause mad cow disease and a host of other deadly diseases and the "Coalition of Consumer Groups" decides to speak out against Nano silver? Why?  Who paid for the legal services to prepare the "Citizens Petition"? Whose ox is being gored by the existence and availability of Nano silver?  Big Pharma, whose antibiotics, anti virals and vaccines are unnecessary if we have it?  The genacidalists and policy planners who write that they wish the earth culled of 80-90% of its population and have weaponized various tools, including viruses and vaccines, to accomplish this task, which Nano silver makes more difficult? When we trace the money for the development of the coalition and the legal attack on Nano Silver, we will know a great deal more about who owns that ox. Nano silver is safe in all known populations, has particles which are too small to lodge in the body, has no record of any dangers, is cheap, has no storage limitation, does not need refrigeration, requires no sterile application techniques since it kills all know pathogens against which it has been tested and, most dangerous of all to the other side, allows people to resist literally any organism, posing a threat to the efficacy of a weaponized or naturally employed epidemic/pandemic organism. "Consumer Organizations" Petition EPA to Ban Nano Silver - Natural Solutions Foundation Supports Nano Silver, Health Freedom Tell EPA Not to Ban Nano Silver of Any Type http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/t/1128/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=26405 The Natural Solutions Foundation has received hundreds of emails asking us why Nano Silver should not be banned since "Consumer Groups" have banded together to seek its classification and banning as a pesticide.  I understand the concern but I do not share it.  Instead, I have deep concern about the use of "consumer groups" to do the work of Big Pharma and the folks who are spending huge amounts of money to prepare us - and their plans - for the "inevitable" pandemic with what we believe may well be weaponized pandemic "tools".  Nano silver, in particular, kills even the weaponized versions of Avian Flu and HIV and, accordingto the President of ABL, has been APPROVED BY THE EPA FOR THAT VERY PURPOSE! Taking topical (surface cleaner) Nano Silver out of our hands means only expensive, toxic chemicals could be used for that purpose.  Even worse, it opens the door wide, very wide, for the banning of Nano Silver for all other purposes. Without it, what do we have on hand that can protect us from over 630 pathogens?  Allowing this act, what do we have to protect us from an increasing level of governmental health tyranny?  Please read my letter, below, written to someone asking how I could possibly oppose banning Nano silver and click here (http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/t/1128/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=26405) to tell the EPA that this is NOT acceptable with you.  Numbers count here.  Every single person you know who loves liberty or cares about their health (or a both) should be deeply concerned and motivated to take action.  Comments end on January 20, 2009.  We are the ONLY health freedom organization acting to protect Nano Silver as far as I know.  Act now.   My letter to the supporter asking why we are not supporting the ban on Nano Silver: It is downright disingenuous to seek to halt the use of nano silver as a "pesticide" and the machinery that makes it, as well, as a pesticide when there is no suggestion from any credible source that there is any danger at all from nano silver used as a topical, or internally taken, product.  Wildly dangerous organophosphate and other known carcinogen pesticides and the 12 Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) banned by the Stockholm Convention (SC) of 2001 are still permitted for unregulated use in the US and manufactured for use abroad on our food supply.   In fact, although the US signed the SC, it has yet to enact it into law, allowing global and local pollution and contamination, increasing cancer rates, etc. Glyphosate (Roundup(c)), the second most dangerous non radioactive chemical known, which is a documented cause of birth defects, infertility, sterility, cancer, etc., etc., is widely used in foods and encouraged for more use by the proliferation of TOTALLY UNTESTED GMO "foods" which MAY NOT be either examined for their safety or labeled under US regulation and law. Glyphosate, an herbicide, is permitted in ever increasing food residue and water concentrations. These GMO "foods" containing glyphosate residues and similar toxic compounds contaminate more than 90% of the US food supply including the 10% permitted in organic foods, but raise no such concern. Animals are reared in feedlots in such horrific conditions that they must be fed antibiotics to keep them alive, given contaminated feed known to cause mad cow disease and a host of other deadly diseases and the "Coalition of Consumer Groups" decides to speak out against Nano silver? Why?  Who paid for the legal services to prepare the "Citizens Petition"?  Whose ox is being gored by the existence and availability of Nano silver?  Big Pharma, whose antibiotics, anti virals and vaccines are unnecessary if we have it?  The genacidalists and policy planners who write that they wish the earth culled of 80-90% of its population and have weaponized various tools, including viruses and vaccines, to accomplish this task, which Nano silver makes more difficult? When we trace the money for the development of the coalition and the legal attack on Nano Silver, we will know a great deal more about who owns that ox. Nano silver is safe in all known populations, has particles which are too small to lodge in the body, has no record of any dangers, is cheap, has no storage limitation, does not need refrigeration, requires no sterile application techniques since it kills all know pathogens against which it has been tested and, most dangerous of all to the other side, allows people to resist literally any organism, posing a threat to the efficacy of a weaponized or naturally employed epidemic/pandemic organism. So, yes, I would be happy to comment: this is an apparently well-orchestrated ploy to remove a cheap, effective and self-administered protection against Avian Flu and pretty much anything else except radiation or poison gas that comes our way.  Please remember to use our Action Item link (http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/t/1128/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=26405) to tell the EPA that Nano silver must remain in our hands.  Numbers are very important here. Getting Health Freedom to top place in the informal www.Change.org poll (www.Change.org/ideas/view/health_freedom) will NOT make the Obama administration suddenly throw Big Pharma's lobbyists out of Washington, nor will it make the new Secretary of HHS (home of FDA and CDC) suddenly decide that natural health care should totally replace chemical illness care. But, since at least three of the top ten issues on the site are really Health Freedom issues, we have shown that we can go "toe-to-toe" with the top "hot button" issues on the Internet and be way up on the top of the list... Next Big Threat - EPA to declare Nano Silver a Pesticide!

Is the "Health Freedom Movement" Dead?  It Looks Like We Are the Only Live Bodies In the Neighborhood! "Hey! Where' s the rest of the so-called 'Health Freedom Movement'? ", you might ask.  We are asking that, too. So we wrote an open letter (http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?p=1735) asked them, one and all, to join the Natural Solutions Foundation in supporting the Health Freedom concept in this unprecedented political opportunity. We told the supposed leaders of the "HFM" that the victory was for Health Freedom,  not for us and asked them to join forces, laying aside any differences for this historic opportunity. After all, we don't claim any trademark for the term "Health Freedom." To date, the only written response has been no response at all.  None.  Hmmm.  Some of the "Leaders" of the HFM, however, decided to respond in another way.  They called and wrote to people whom they believed to be clients (and friends) of one of our Trustees and sought to persuade them to fire him because he works with the Natural Solutions Foundation! (In legal terms, that is called "tortuous interference".) Well, so much for either decency or the willingness to put differences aside to assure YOUR health freedom. These are the same "leaders" who refuse to obey the rules at Codex which provide an equal seat at the table with them. Instead, they, not the Codex Commission, ban us from that table.  Why have we not mentioned this before?  Because we held on to the apparently vain hope that they would behave well.  We now have relinquished that hope. What does that tell you about leadership and commitment to your health freedom rather than .... well, whatever. I do not even have to say it.  But the groups that have chosen to either attack us for being leaders or stab us in the back by trying to take away the way Ralph makes his living are literally beneath contempt.  If that is a movement, it is best described as "Bowel". You know that we do not attack.  There is just to much to do in the health freedom war to waste energy attacking.  We do observe, though, and we tell it just the way we see it.  We continue to believe that such divided, disruptive and disgusting behavior gives aid and comfort to the enemy.  We speculate that at least some of it may be paid for directly by the enemy, but we are not going to waste our precious time attacking.  We do believe that winning first place in the Change.org voting benefits us all and the Natural Solutions Foundation always, but always, holds out our hand for productive cooperation.  Meanwhile, I can see no signs of life in the HFM and, aside from us, it looks like it has died of the wounds it has inflicted on itself. Special focus groups like Non-GMO groups, No Mandatory Vaccination or Drugging groups, No Circumcision groups, Medical Privacy Groups, Raw Milk, Natural Cancer Cure, Frequency and Energy Medicine Groups, Autism Groups, Reiki Healers, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathic, Chi Gong or other issue-oriented groups are certainly the exception.  They are alive, well, and kicking very nicely, thank you!  We welcome them and invite you, if you are a member of such an issues-focused group, to get every one in your group to go to www.Change.org/ideas/view/health_freedom and vote.  If your issue is part of health freedom, we are there for you and thank God that you are there for all of us. Stress?  What stress? The question is not whether stress is a part of your life since if you work for a living, have any medical problems, have kids, commute to work, have aging parents, pets with problems, drive on freeways, manage a bank account, have a mortgage, a business, a spouse or a family, stress most certainly is a part of your life. Take a look at the number of prescriptions for medications which are caused by stress and you'll see that it is the epidemic condition of modern life. What can chronic stress (even with a 2 week vacation before coming back to the grind thrown in now and again) do to the body? Cause it to break down and develop just about every chronic disease know to mankind. During that time, visitors to the site will be able to determine which of the ideas presented are important to them and vote for those ideas.  The top ten ideas will be presented to President Obama on Inauguration Day and announced at the National Press Club.  When we found out about it, the Natural Solutions Foundation instantly asked all of our many supporters and friends to jump on the opportunity.  Perhaps you saw our email about this vote. Between the evening of December 30 and close of voting December 31, 2008, we were able to catapult Health Freedom from 98th place to 3rd place, qualifying Health Freedom for the second, and final, round of voting. President Natural Solutions Foundation www.HealthFreedomUSA.org www.GlobalHealthFreedom.org More information: Health Freedom is Our First Freedom http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/index.php?p=1733 Dr. Rima Recommends Vitamin D3: Immune System Essential Vitamin D3 - Essential For Health Vitamin D3 is, in essence, crystalized sunshine.  All sources of D3, from musrooms to human skin, require sunlight to manufacture this essential substance.   We are learning that Vitamin D malnutrition may be associated to chronic diseases like high blood pressure, tuberculosis, cancer, periodontal (gum) disease, MS, chronic pain, depression, schizophrenia, SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), peripheral artery disease and various autoimmune diseases. Low vitamin D levels are associated with Parkinson's disease.  In fact, a recent study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (Norman, August, 08) shows that at least 36 organs of the body can become compromised through lack of Vitamin C including bone, breast, prostate, immune functions, liver, heart, pancrease (insulin) and a host of other organs and function. Muscle strength, increased risk of falling, and colorectal, prostate, breast and other major cancers all become more common in the absence of sufficient Vitamin D.  Getting enough of the right kind of Vitamin D can be a challenge. Few foods are naturally rich in D3, no matter how urgently we require it.  1 tablespoon of Cod Liver Oil contains 1,360 IU, 1 egg contains 20 IU. But cancer prevention or the treatment of osteoporosis, for example, may require 10,000 IU per day. Maximum production by your own body, with full body sun exposure is about 10,000 IU per day.  Most of us do not spend our days naked in full sunshine, so that is not an effective option for most people. Vitamin D overdose can occur, but there is no need to worry about overdose at reasonable levels: all known cases of vitamin D toxicity with hypercalcemia have involved intake of more than 40,000 IU/day. A good source of natural, non GMO free Vitamin D is essential to your health.  General Bert and I take 10,000 IU per day, the amount that our bodies would make, given the chance.  General Bert's osteoporosis (caused by years of heavy steroid use for asthma before I met him - no asthma and no steroids now thanks to natural medicine) has gotten significantly better on this regimen and I use it for prevention since women in my family tend to get severe osteoporosis. Of course, any time you take high levels of Vitamin A from any source (like the fish oil I hope you are taking), you need protective levels of Vitamin D3.
